Careers in Estate Agency
Where will you go?
If you think you would enjoy the buzz of sales and can imagine the thrill and challenge of making a client's dream come true, then a career in estate agency may be the right path for you.
Trainee estate agents on the programme described their job as 'exciting', 'varied' and 'rewarding' - words anyone would associate with a career likely to fulfil their ambitions. On the National Association of Estate Agents Programme (NAEA) you get paid to learn the skills you will need.
How does it work?
The first step is to get an estate agents to take you on as an apprentice - we can help you find somewhere and may even have a list of vacancies in your area. You will spend the first two years receiving training on the job and at special workshops with other agents at the same stage of their career. A training assessor will visit you regularly and will be available to answer your questions or help you out when you need it.
What will I learn?
Everything from organising property appraisals to negotiating sales, as well as how to deal with customers, property law and much more. We'll also help you develop important skills like communication and application of number.
Can I get qualifications?
Through working on the NAEA apprenticeship programme you could achieve level 2 and/or 3 in sale of residential property and the technical award.
Do I need GCSE's?
Not necessarily. If you are between 16 and 24 and enthusiastic about a career in residential estate agency then you can apply.
Where will it take me?
Estate agency can offer quality training and exciting career opportunities. Within a couple of years of completing your qualifications you could be a senior negotiator of even a manager, within a national agency.
